Mr Wood's Fossils

Stan Wood had been a professional fossil hunter for a few years before demand from the public pushed him to open Mr Wood's Fossils in 1988. He has made many important discoveries in his time, including over 30 entirely new species from key evolutionary periods.

Matt Dale worked for museums after completing his geology degree and joined the firm in 1998 before taking over the business. The shop has an international reputation for its wide range of quality fossils from across the world. There is also an extensive array of minerals and crystals.

The knowledgeable staff welcome any questions visitors may have and can offer advice if necessary. We are keen to provide a high standard of customer service. The shop takes a while to explore, but browsers are welcome. There are such treasures as dinosaur and shark teeth, fossil leaves and wood, geodes and meteorites. There are beautifully preserved fish and ammonites, and 540 million year-old trilobites.

Care is taken to ensure prices are very competitive – stock is sourced from all over the globe, and we have built up close relationships with suppliers to maintain the high level of quality the shop has established.
