Walker Slater
Inspired by the crags of the Scottish highlands and the winding closes of Edinburgh’s Old Town. Walker Slater blend soft Shetland tweed with fine flannels. Tuned from the muted natural tones of the autumn blushed munros and corbetts. Their ranges draw together all aspects of a “working” wardrobe. Working, in the sense the garments will provide function and style.
The Walker Slater philosophy is founded on a belief in comfortable functional clothing, with an emphasis on soft structuring, subtle colouring and fine quality fabrics. Walker Slater eschew over complicated detailing, preferring a timeless simplicity and careless elegance.
Since it’s debut in Edinburgh, a loyal customer base has been established which reaches the world over.
Close cut lightweight tweed suits with matching waistcoats, throw a hint of formality into the equation. Matched either with over dyed washed cotton or semi-formal cutaway tonal shirts and “rag” ties. Collections include worsted spun knit wear, matched with over dyed cotton and flannel worker pants. Heavily washed shirting and boiled wools light jackets. Also, using Harris and Border tweeds to give a hardy yet tonal edge both in garments and accessories.
Although from the outset the range may sound rough and rustic, the refinements of the cut and the attention the detail give the collection a wide appeal across many ages. Whilst not conforming to mass fashion trends, Walker Slater provide quality before fashion ensuring a style, that whilst being timeless, is built to last.
Thus promoting a lifestyle which relies on an understanding of style, rather than a notion of being led by fashion, it creates a direction through an understanding of elements that make up real life and real functionality.
