Arts & Entertainment in Edinburgh's Grassmarket

Poets, storytellers, dancers, musicians of all kinds have always been attracted to Edinburgh’s Grassmarket – a tradition that continues today.

Dance Base, Scotland’s National Centre for Dance is the premier cultural provider in the Grassmarket area. Far more than just a dance workshop, Dance Base collaborates with area theatres, such as the nearby Traverse and Lyceum theatres, as well as the Edinburgh Filmhouse keeping dance fresh and at the forefront of cultural activities in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh’s long and accomplished literary history starts in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket. This is quite literally the case today as the Edinburgh Literary pub tour starts from the White Hart Inn!

Dance Base
Scotland's National Centre for Dance encourages and celebrates the potential for dance in everyone. The four studios host 130+ dance regular classes for every level in 40+ different styles.

Cadies & Witchery Tours
The Witchery Tours take a light-hearted look at Edinburgh’s darker side.  Ghostly guides blend history with humour and facts with fables while “jumper-ooters” provide guaranteed ghostly appearances.

The Lot
The Lot is a friendly bistro and venue that plays host to exhibitions of local artists as well as weekly ceilidhs and jazz performances.
